South Asian Symphony Foundation Youth Workshop

June 11, 2026
The South Asian Symphony Foundation Youth Workshop took place at the Christ University Central Campus, presenting a valuable learning opportunity to the music department students and an ethereal sonic experience for those who attended the closing concert.

The workshop and concert will brought together distinguished professors from around the world to mentor and inspire the young musical talents, who have been enriched by this experience.

"This workshop was an amazing opportunity for me to understand vocals in an ensemble setting." — Pragyaan

The aim of the South Asian Symphony Foundation (SASF) is to promote greater cultural integration for the cause of peace in our region of South Asia, through the medium of music and the creation of a South Asian Symphony Orchestra. The inspiration has come from Ambassador Nirupama Menon Rao’s years in diplomacy and what she saw as a felt need for providing a platform to promote more dialogue, cultural synergy, and friendly understanding among the youth of the eight countries in South Asia, including India.

The concert was a sonic treat for all those who attended and witnessed the hard work of both the students and the mentors.

Workshops like this one allow for the musical potential in Indian students to be shaped, so that they too can pursue this field for their higher education, allowing for more authentic Indian representation in the global classical music scene.

Overall, classical music has been making waves in Bangalore's own music scene, and one can only hope to look forward to more exciting opportunities and experiences such as this one.
